About this chapter

I explain why I made this course: there's often a gap between how positively senior people see degree apprenticeships and how apprentices actually experience them. The course is my perspective on closing that gap by making the most of the opportunity.

• Many of the apprentices I speak to on TikTok Live and one-to-one are disappointed after a year or so, often because they haven't made the most of the experience.
• The benefits are real: you're paid, you gain experience and the degree is paid for, so you finish without debt.
• Nobody seems to explain how to use the opportunity, and I haven't seen a guide given to apprentices.
• Treating a degree apprenticeship like a conveyor belt is where the dissatisfaction comes from; it needs effort.
• This is only my perspective, and you should take what's useful.
