Maximising Your Time as a Degree Apprentice, Chapter 5: Learning and development

Part of Maximising your time as a Degree Apprentice · Chapter 5 of 21 · 10 min

About this chapter

Your employer's learning and development team can offer far more than most apprentices realise. As an employee you may have access to online learning platforms, courses and lunchtime sessions.

Key points

  • Companies often have block subscriptions to platforms like Coursera or Udemy that you can use.
  • You won't necessarily be able to do a masters funded by the company as a degree apprentice, but check what you can access.
  • Your line manager has to approve time away from work, so bring your skills roadmap to those conversations.
  • Lunch-and-learn sessions and similar events often need no approval.
  • The intranet may be out of date, so it's worth talking to HR, ideally someone you know.
